And so it Begins

I was a skinny kid. The "Hollow Legs" type. Beanpole. My late teen years were full of bad behavior that I eventually got even skinnier, probably down to around 100 lbs. At the end of 2002, I stopped all that bad stuff and basically have been gaining weight since then. For a long time I was around 30-40 pounds over weight. I joined a gym in 2010 and got down to around 160 and looking back, that was awesome. I had a baby in 2012 and it went downhill from there.
At last check I weighed 206. I'm what they call Apple Shaped, I have a big middle, but not a lot of weight on my arms or legs. My daughter is so active now, I hate to think that I can't run and play with her for any length of time. I want to take her for hikes and walk to the river. I want to chase her on a playground. I want to live to be old and see her grow up.
So I'm attempting to set myself up for success. I have convinced a group of co workers to do a "Biggest Loser" type contest. It starts Jan 5 and goes for 8 weeks. There's a $20 buy in. I also signed up for a DietBet, with a $25 buy in. I plan on using the Turbulence Training workouts.  I paid for it a long time ago, but haven't used it but maybe 3 or 4 times. Which is ridiculous since I paid for it.
The Turbulence Training people are also having a contest. It runs for 12 weeks and I can start on Jan 5th just like with my work contest.
I'm hoping by setting myself up with all these different contests and games that I'll stay motivated. I haven't fully decided on diet much other than the obvious "quit eating shit food" type of diet. I suck at eating breakfast so I tend to get hungry before lunch time. I'm thinking salads for lunch, I like grilled chicken and things like garbonzo beans so I should be okay with that. I got a sample of a Bode by Vemma shake that I might look into as a breakfast type, after work outs. Some good friends own a gym in another town and he sent some some great recommendations. A food diary might be in order too.
I've got some goals in mind, but I want to research realistic weight loss goals. Most of my games and contests with end in Feb and March but I'm hoping to continue on and keep it up past that. I would love to plan some cute cosplays for San Diego Comic Con in July. I've also signed up to do 2 vendor events, One in March the other in May. So on top of working out, I need to schedule some serious sewing time. I want to make some good purses, maybe some cool new stuff, I'm thinking like comic book decoupaged things, like bracelets and such. One is a Steampunk type show, the other is a space sci fi type show. I definitely need to work on getting some new stuff made.
So the next few months will be a crazy time. I'll have to plan my days well. I've been having a hard time going to bed early, like tonight I'm up late, doing bookkeeping, blogging and watching Star Trek (starting my complete watch in order I'm on Season 1, Episode 19, it's slow going).
I'll have to  take some BEFORE pictures. Maybe if I want to embarrass myself on the internet I'll post them here. We'll see. But no matter what I'm going to try to keep up with posting progress on here. I'll be doing my initial weigh in and measurements the weekend before Jan. 5th. See you all then.
